DONATO CARRISI LIPOTESI DEL MALE EBOOK
The sixth is yet to be identified. Worse still, the girls' bodies, alive or dead, are nowhere to be found. Lead investigators Mila Vasquez, a celebrated profiler, and Goran Gavila, an eerily prescient criminologist, dive into the case.
They're confident they've got the right suspect in their sights until they discover no link between him and any of the kidnappings except the first. The evidence in the case of the second missing child points in a vastly different direction, creating more questions than it answers. Vasquez and Gavila begin to wonder if they've been brought in to take the fall in a near-hopeless case.

Is it all coincidence? Or is a copycat criminal at work? Obsessed with a case that becomes more tangled and intense as they unravel the layers of evil, Gavila and Vasquez find that their lives are increasingly in each other's hands.
More Fiction. Tiamat's Wrath James S. Derek Raymond. A Novel. Malin Persson Giolito. This story screams high tension, high stakes and high velocity.
Carrisi's villain is a suitable cohort for Hannibal Lecter, and his detectives are intelligently nuanced, each struggling, sometimes failing, to cope with the depravity into which they immerse themselves in the name of good. A haunting, disconcerting, devastating portrait of evil. Readers who appreciate manipulation, both of plots and themselves, by the author, and those who appreciate a shock of bloody horror will be absolutely enthralled by this offering.
A puzzle. A challenge. An intriguing portrait of society, of you and me.

Not entirely sure how best to approach a review of a work of narrative fiction meant entirely to entertain, but it seems like a good place to start would be to say that I was definitely entertained!
I had trouble allowing myself to become fully immersed in the lives of the characters as I was just trying to follow the plot and figure out the ending. Due to that, I found it rather annoying that the author kept trying to humanize Mila Vasquez while I was reading. I really didn't care about her little quirk or her past or how she got to be who she was.
The little bits of interior monologue "When will I ever let someone touch me again" just seemed out of place. The strange union in the hotel room seemed VERY out of place I just wanted to solve the case!

Until that point, the story was an engaging real-world thriller that I could understand. I thought we were watching smart experienced professionals match wits with a sick twisted monster.
To, basically, say that the monster had won without this contrivance was disheartening. The key, however, with this type of story is how the author is able to tie everything together in the end.
Several times I felt myself looking down the barrel of Chekhov's Gun, thus missing out on the elements of surprise I felt like the author was trying to create. Several times I felt myself glazing over paragraphs that were not, for me, advancing the narrative. Yet I never once wanted to put the book down and put the story on pause.
The payoff had to be coming, and I was locked in despite myself. Regardless of my own little annoyances, and one big one the story moved with a brisk pace and kept me wanting more. I thought the prose style was smooth and flowed well from word to word, sentence to sentence, and chapter to chapter. Rarely was I left hanging at the end of a chapter hoping to continue that storyline only to be thrust into something completely different.
Each chapter began nearly exactly the way I wanted it to and focused on exactly what I wanted to see. So did the ending pay off?
It sure did tie everything together nicely. Almost too nicely Not Lady and the Tiger style, but more like, "Ok there must be a sequel style. At least through the end of the actual mystery.
The pseudo-epilogue at the very end, however I probably would have given this a 4-star review if it had not been for the "little" revelation about Mila in the last score of pages or so. Too unbelievable and completely unnecessary. Overall, this was a nice distraction from my own mess and an entertaining way to spend a half-dozen hours or so.
Honestly, it was nice to read something that wasn't pulling at my heart strings and making me look inward with a critical eye.

It may seem to be a left-handed compliment but this book is an absolute stunning tale about how to solve a crime that will drive the reader with the same compulsions and forces that are exhibited by the criminals and detectives in this world, but where you will find the characters mostly uninteresting. We have plenty of history about Mila the chief character in the novel but it really does not grip you.
All the other characters are similarly endowed with a "history" which gets in the way of plot. The reader will not have any interest in seeing them again in a sequel. This book is about plot and fact-finding.
The entire atmosphere is so magical since the reader will find it hard to place where the crimes are committed. America, Canada, Sweden, take your pick. Yet the story is as hypnotic as the crimes are gruesome.
Some quibbles and this may be the fault of the translator, I do not know but one does not put a bullet into the barrel of a gun unless it is a black powder weapon. The style is mesmerizing and as complex as the plot, hence the term rococo.
One person found this helpful. The story is alright as psychological thrillers go, but writing is simply abysmal. Mind you, I've read it in English, so perhaps a bad translation is to blame.
The whole thing reads like a very early first draft or a children's book, with stilted dialogue, badly done "reveals", encyclopedic sections on criminology randomly inserted here and there without even trying to look like a part of the book or thoughts of the characters. If you don't mind literary style, or absence thereof, the book is a nice distraction for a day or two. I was cringing the whole way and wishing someone had hired an editor before printing it.
Paperback Verified download. The characters are very interesting, and very complex. The story is strong from beginning to end, with many twists and turns that keep you engaged and reading.
This book was written by an author from Italy and translated. While it is excellent, it does not give the reader any sense of where this story takes place, and that took a little bit of time for me to get used to. It was not enough by any means to stop me from reading as the plot and the characters were much to intriguing to consider that.
When I finished this book, I gave it to my husband and he agreed it is a great read. A book really worth 5 stars! One of the best I have read in a very long time. I actually didn't see it coming till it hit me in the face, and that doesn't happen often.
Great book, good enough for me to download his other books, and THAT doesn't happen often either. It takes a lot for me to break down and actually recommended a book because I know that many people rely on reader critiques for their book downloading downloads. When I finished this book, I gave it to my husband and he agreed it is a great read. Two little boys are walking along the path with their dog. Without the faces, no individuals, not even people.
Definition of a guilty pleasure, I suppose. Her name was Caroline, aged eleven. This is a crafty whodunit that leaves you breathless at each turn as the macabre crimes of serial killers unfold through a psychological game led by another serial killer of course.
Or is a copycat criminal at work? A sensational new literary thriller from the bestselling author of The Whisperer, this novel captures the beautiful atmosphere of Rome and explores its dark and hidden secrets. But without success. He wants to let us know only that they are dead.
